The guitar line mingles cleverly with electronically generated grooves in a song whose odd rhythms, offbeat vocal style and penetrating lyrics give the listener something fresh, challenging and forward-thinking. The song offers a peek into the emotional dynamics of Moat’s life at the time of its writing. “I named the song ‘Destiny’ because … I had so many things going on and many things that I wanted to do, but when it all came down to one thing, I did not know where I was really going in life.” He was at a crossroads, seeking to validate in his own mind the choices he was making for his life: school, acting … and music. Moat came from a family whose background was overwhelmingly one of sports. Finding very little meaningful exposure to music in childhood, it wasn’t until he went off to college and found some separation from the saturation of sports that he was able to explore other outlets of self-expression and discovered an innate love of music. Moat poured himself into learning this exciting new craft and to this day devotes much of his free time to honing his already polished skills.
